September 15th - General Meeting

Great news, we all lived through the first meeting! ;-) Yes, it went well and we gained..... drumroll please.... 4 new members! Bringing our total up to 11 so far! I am thrilled to see that we have such a diverse group of sewists amongst our ranks too! I think that Modern Quilting attracts people from all backgrounds, and that's just wonderful!

Mary Jo took our September BOM and really went for it! I love the creativity she used in laying it out and playing with the size/color! WTG Mary Jo - you are a Modern Quilter even if you didn't know it!

Sara took the BOM blocks that the officers completed and created an AWESOME throw-sized quilt that will be hung at Fabric Warehouse! WTG Sara! It looks fantastic!

Melody has already ordered the two books that we showcased in the newsletters and at the meeting "Modern Quilting" and "The Essential Guide to Modern Quilt Making". The latter is at the shop now (not sure how many are left though), and the former should be arriving any day now. In the future we will try to have the books that we showcase on the shelf for you when we have the monthly meeting - we are trying to encourage people to shop at our sponsor and not nab it from Amazon, so we promise to try to do better!

We hope that all of you will join us in creating blocks for the Halloween Quilt Block Challenge as well as the QuiltCon Charity Quilt. Don't forget that the bundles of fabric for the Charity Quilt have already been cut and are at Fabric Warehouse.

Thank you for attending the meeting and we hope to see you at the Sew Day on the 28th (and the open house on the 21st!).
